BITD I lusted over those wheels, hard. I just couldn't justify the cost as a fair-weather commuter/weekend warrior. I was wondering if I should mention them, since I didn't actually buy them.
My biggest disappointments have been ill-fitting bikes. My first ("good") bike was in my mid-teens was from this one shop that told me they had these good bikes (Kobe I think) that he was swapping out components to make great bikes. Only problem is the bike didn't fit me (it was 21-1/2" and I struggle with a 19" frame), but I was too young and dumb to know better. Worse yet when he built the wheels he crushed about half of the nipples (what was he using for a spoke wrench - vise grips?). Eventually had the wheels rebuilt, painted the frame (god did I do a lousy job - but it taught me to appreciate a good paint job), then after I bought a bike that comes close to fitting, sold the bike to a co-worker who was much taller than I am.
