Thought I'd share a pleasant experience we had today with a motorist.
I was biking with 2 ladies, was just coming back into the small town where we live in rural Arkansas, when a vehicle passed us. He drove on up a ways, then pulled to the side of the road. As we approached, his door swung open. I guess I always expect the worse. I wondered to myself, "What this guy up to? Is he going to be one of those people who hate cyclists, and plans to give us an ear full?" No, it was the opposite. He was a gentleman, I'd guess upper 60's. We stopped and he said something like, "I just want to let you know it's good to see you out here riding. My son lives in another state, and he cycles a lot. He loves it. Just keep up the good work." Just another reason I enjoy cycling. You get to have some interesting interaction with others!
