Bikes: Shmikes

In 50+ years of commuting, training, racing, and farting around the East Coast on bikes, the vast majority of my experience with motorists has been good. Have I been run off the road intentionally, run off the road and then beaten, had stuff thrown at me, had my ass slapped from car windows, and been the victim of pointless aggression and negligence many times? Of course. However, a massively predominant fraction of motorists has treated me with care and consideration, smiled, waved, motioned me through stops, been sincerely apologetic when I had to remind them I was there, and even taken me and my bike home after nudging me into the ditch.
