Maybe I'm not understanding the Schwinn method. The method I'm thinking of was to put all the spokes in from one side of the hub, flip it over, and then put in all the others. When all the spokes are in you have this big porcupine. At this point you lace it up the 'normal' way, starting with pulling spokes, twist, and then lacing in the opposing spokes. Is this not the Schwinn method?
I'm sure you could build symmetrically this way too.
If it were easy to describe how to build a wheel with just words, everyone could do it. Most everyone that I know that builds wheels with confidence was taught by someone-they didn't learn it from books, pictures, or videos.
I can learn a lot just using Google search, building wheels isn't one of them!
