I might be biased. I rode a 3.0 for a while while waiting on a warranty frame. The geometry sucks for riding mtb trails. Jamis Dakota is one that comes to mind in that price range. Check around and ride more bikes. Go to demos and ride as many different bikes and brands as possible.
