I wanted a 27.5 because for my riding style I want a nimble bike I can throw around on tight trails. I have been riding 26", and 29er's feel like a tank to me.
Tonight I hope to get out to "the hill" and try some climbs and descents. We don't have mountains here, but "the hill" is a packed dirt and shellrock course around a old landfill. The course makes a dozen climbs and descents during one lap around the hill, so it makes a great interval-training session. My record on the old bike was 16min 5sec for 1 lap, and 1hr 5 min for 3 laps.

good choice, the $1000 Jamis Dakota does not have as good of brakes, or gear set. Not bad stuff, pretty much the same as I have on my bike, but the Trail 2 is a step up on components. And the XC30 coil spring fork is not near as nice as the 30 gold air fork.
