Well, that's one way to look at it. Another is that I have Phil Wood BBs from the 1970s that are still going strong. And you can find used ones on eBay for reasonable prices. For that matter, you can find lots of used Raleigh 26 tpi cups on eBay for reasonable prices. I wouldn't think those Indian-made ones would last very long, but who knows?
I totally get the "false economy" issue -- and I applaud Phil for making a stellar product -- but it's hard to swallow the thought of spending that amount money when a less expensive cup-and-code bottom bracket would work well for most people under most circumstances.
