To me, the proposed 7 km looks purely recreational, running beside/on the edge of one of the National Parks, and beside the main road through there.
I think the idea is to create something else to do in that park. There's some great hiking in the area and a campground, but this would likely provide a place for recreational cyclists to go for a little jaunt on a day when they didn't want to hike or something.
That's fine, but as far as attracting cyclists like me, and the other cyclists I ride with, to the area, 7 km just doesn't provide much of an appeal. Now if they had a multi-year plan to hook it up to the Cycleway in Hobart, that would indeed be appealing!
I guess we'll just wait and see.
