I only have experience with Five Ten, so I can't personally recommend anything else. They're definitely the big name in flat pedal bike shoes, but you might want to check out the Teva Links or the Specialized 2FO Flat.

The great thing about platforms is you probably already have shoes that would be fine. Light hiking shoes would be the ideal thing as their rubber typically has a great mix of grip and durability (my Five Tens are actually not the bike specific model but a light hiker/approach shoe), but I bike in Chucks, regular sneakers, sandals, and even rubber-soled dress shoes with no problem. In the winter, I just wear my snow boots. Any shoe that's comfortable and has rubber that's strong enough to not be torn up by the pins will fit the bill (I wouldn't use fancy running shoes as primary bike shoes, but they'll do fine for a ride to the store).
