I believe I read someplace that these Shimano 11-28 freewheels were designed for a group that was specifically targeted at folding bicycles equipped with 20" wheels and a single chainring. I'm running something similar on my Dahon; a 12-26 Sachs 8 speed and a 53-42 Shimano 105 crankset.
