Friend of a Friend sort of thing -
My son was walking with a friend on campus. The friend looks over and says, "I had a bike like that." He looks closer, and says, "Hey, that IS my bike!".
Plot twist - the friend was from California and sold the bike there a few years back before going to college in Ohio.
Turns out the guy he sold it to bought it for his son to ride ... at college in Ohio. Granted, it's a big University, but still a small world.
