Some years, some friends and I head down to North Carolina in early April to get in some pre season training. The goal is to ride for a week in warm weather just as the season is starting here in Montreal. We usually go to Pinehurst. We were there about 4 years ago and we decided to go to a nice bike shop in the adjoining town of Southern Pines. We were a group of 8 or so, all from the Montreal area. Another gang walked in while were there, all also from the province of Quebec. Everyone in the store except for the sales staff was talking mostly in French, with the Anglos among us translating to the sales staff for the ones who couldn't speak English. I found it odd,that 1500 km from my home I would be in a spot where about 20 people all came from the same general area, not having arrived as a group
