Apologies if I sound obtuse, but I'm still not getting it. If indeed you have an Emonda (I don't know what a "Trek Emonde S" is), well ... there: you have a "lighter [bike] for longer rides". That is what an Emonda is for.
You also have an AWOL, a bike that you say you like, that is not all that heavy to begin with, that is steel, that has a more relaxed 'touring' geometry, that can easily swallow wide(r) tires, and that you could easily 'upgrade' if you thought it necessary in order to shed a little more weight from it and/or just make it that bit nicer to ride -- if that matters. If indeed you do weigh 300lbs or so -- and no, this is
not snark -- then I would have thought the AWOL is the perfect sort of bike to be going on with for now.
