New rider, new bike...pedal question

Hello!

Brand new cycler here. I have been running 5km races in Canada but am starting to think of duathlons. So I bought a crappy bike to make sure I like it before going big!

There are some parts I want to replace and one of them is pedals. I just bought some that measure 95.5mm x 78mm x 24.5 mm. I'm not going clip less yet so I bought platform with shoe baskets.
Some reviews said these were small pedals, but they measure larger than the crappy ones on my bike now. To my knowledge these pedals would be almost 4 inches x 3 inches x 1 inch thick and weigh 220 grams. I know they are light, but this is an above average pedal in terms of size is it not?
