Koga Miyata Terrarunner 1989 conversion to road hybrid - brake mounting?
I have a Koga Miyata Terrarunner 1989 with a decent condition lugged steel frame. The geometry looks roadish to me and with 700 wheels would make an useful city bike. Right now it looks quite funny (20" frame with 26 wheels...) and most of the drivetrain is shot (wheels, teeth, shifters, brakes...)
Since I have made upgrades to my road bike I have a set of Campagnolo Vento wheels and Athena brakes gathering dust. I would turn it to 1x10 and buy a Veloce casette, rear d. and flatbar shifter plus a new 48 or 50t chainring keeping the original cranks and discarding smaller rings.
Rear spacing is narrower than 135 but it should spread easily I hope.
The first problem/question is about the brakes. The frame has a bridge with a hole apparently at the correct location for road brakes, about 36cm from the axle. Same for the fork. I have the feeling the frames were built in the same bunch with their road frames to similar specs. Someone told me I shouldn't rely on this as the bridge and hole is just for fenders but I am not sure.
Am i correct with my assumption, is this bridge suited to mount a brake on it? (I know I will have to drill one side to 8mm to accept the recessed mounting of a modern brake)
Thanks!
