Tire size didn't use to matter much to me, but I've been moving to 28s gradually. I do now expect a road bike to have room for 28s. On my most recent purchase, I negotiated, inter alia, for a change-over from stock 25s. I got them, plus a saddle upgrade --for the asking sale price!
