Bikes: Home build on 2015 Cervelo R5 open mold 6900g fully equipped, Too heavy 2013 Scatante and 1994 Trek 850 SHX

Hey There

I'm an older guy, and retired too, 57. Basically never take my bikes to a shop, I'm a DIY guy. I've been riding since I was 5 and have never stopped. Rides on my own, up to 100 miles when I was 14 on a Schwinn Varsity, rode without maps, or gps, wow! Commuted to work for 10 years on a Nishiki International Touring bike, and then 20 years on a Trek 850 SHX. I've done thousands of miles of Mountain bike riding in forested settings on the Trek (new when I started), and now I'm back to road riding. I have a beginner road bike - Scatante with 105, and Tiagra (ugh) components. Riding on a $18 bare carbon saddle at 110g just as good or better than my former padded saddle (it's all about fit). I am preparing to build a sub 15 pound bike for under $3400 with Di2, maybe Dura Ace and a WBC-R-066 Frameset. I love the idea of not having to mess around with uncertainty in shifting afforded by the Di2.

My riding is about 100 miles per week or 161 Km for you wonderful metric folks. I ride solo (that might change). My Heart rate range is 42 to 170 or so (gimme a break) pretty good for an old guy. Once I put together my new bike, it will be the first time I've had more than two bikes in my stable. I'm really looking forward to climbing a little more easily with a light bike and having a customized, unique look. I use Mapmyride right now where for the course competitions I'm a big fish in a small pond. I'm sure that would change if I moved over to Strava. The young dudes should be able to keep ahead of me, maybe. Oh Yeh, I make lots of beer too, so I always have some good nutrients when I roll back home . . . . German Pils, American Pale Ale, IPA, English Mild, Ordinary Bitter, Dry Stout, even Belgian Biers, Barleywine and Dopplebock. Lots of great riding routes where I'm located.
