There is a flatish segment that I've pounded on a few times.

My best ride did have a little wind

I'm tied for #3 . But, the Strava power estimates for me and the other guy are vastly different.

It is showing average 374W for me, and average 709W average for the other guy. The KOM (30.3 MPH) actually shows an average of 270W.

My highest sustained power estimate on Strava is 800W for about 8 seconds, and 700W for about 14 seconds. It is possible that I found the perfect cadence and gearing to crank out some power, but it doesn't seem like I'm putting out twice the effort of a 400W effort. And, since I've hit the same segment with high power estimate at the beginning a couple of times, I'm interpreting it as a flaw in Strava's calculations.

Anyway, in some cases, Strava power estimates may be representative of effort, but I don't put a lot of faith in them.
