You and others are missing the point. We all know there are ways to deal with the poor QR travel issue, but they all entail more effort in an instance where it really should not be necessary... QR design should allow enough opening for most tires.
Manufacturers don't know what width tire you'll be using. They design their calipers based on a guess, and for you it turns out to be too narrow. But some designs open more than others, and some levers also include their own cable release, which in combination with the release on the caliper may give you enough clearance.
