I think that helmet mounts are a little high and if you move your head to look at a driveway or a cross street or a good looking person walking by or are looking down at the bars or something, that won't be quite as useful. The L&M is at least very bright and has more visibility than most other things on the market but I still would rather have thing firmly on the bike. Though I dig what you are saying about crashing but hopefully that doesn't happen and I may end up getting a VIS just for extra light and for potential MTB'ing
