Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

Two issues here that surprizingly got glossed over.
53-11's correct, what would the dish be like on that
rear wheel? even with offset spoke holes that thing
would want to fold up like a wet tortilla. Talk about
your uneven tension.
so with 11 or 12 gears in the back how many are unusable
due to chainline issues. Don't use big big or little little and
the next cog (up or down respectively) ain't so great either.
think about it back in the 5 and 6 speed days big big/little little
were not recommended but generally worked. Chainline wasn't
quite as big an issue due to position of cogs on axle in relation to
front rings.
11 or 12 will just make it worse with 2 or 3 unusable combinations at
each end, out of 22 or 24 gearing combo's you get 18 usable combos.
