Something tells me you have never been on a quality older bike. 531 steel is not "garbage." Treks handmade in Wisconsin are not "garbage." I would take one of these bikes any day of the week over either of the 2 bikes in your signature. But I wouldn't say the bikes you like are "garbage," they're just very different from what I prefer.
