I think most companies took their mid level and higher "sport touring" bikes from the early eighties, changed the decals to something with "tri"or "triathlon" in them, maybe two paint faded them, and wallah, mid-eighties triathalon bike. (Let the naysayers begin the bashing). Some brands probably spun the "shallow steering angles for tired swimming arms" mantra, if their existing model already sported a less-than-racing headtube angle.
