Wow, is this a vintage bike forum? Depressing.
Long as I have a pulse, hope to sneak a ride in. Cycling no matter the body condition is mostly about the state of mind. It could be humbling or if you like racing, grab the gusto and attack.
And whats the big deal with the elements and or weather? Embrace it. Will say though the last few weeks have been wild but no way is stopping me from riding. This is nothing in comparison to sailing at sea or in -30 degree temps snowmobiling or X skiing in the back country in blinding snowstorm and you only have an hour of daylight remaining. Thats when you use the mind and appreciate the power and beauty of nature. About the only thing I fear while riding is lightning. Big time fear of it.
Though foul weather makes it interesting and mixes things up for a change. Rain, sleet, 30+ mph crazy wind gust and temps below 40 degree are just fine. Got my dose of it this morning. The best part of it these days is we get to play in it thanks to all the great new high tech outdoor apparel.
And I could care less on riding a classic steel bike in it. No biggie, just try to keep the spare rubber dry and also cover the saddle. Post ride, pour a good drink and wipe the bike down. Love it.
