Here is an interesting new entry by Focus I just came across. It seems to address many of these issues.
FOCUS JARIFA I29 PRO
612Wh battery (Should be good for 30+ miles on high)
36 x 10-42 11spd gearing (Nice eMTB ability there)
Shift sensor (Always helps save the drive terrain)
Climb assist (Don't know exactly what that is?)
Apparently they plan to announce it at the Palo Alto E-bike Expo later this month.
Not sure if they have set the price yet. Hope they can keep it around $2,000, but I doubt it.
