I spent a lot of time on bikes (road and mtb) in and around Lawrence in the 80's. Great place to ride IMHO. Not sure about organized rides, clubs, etc if that is your interest nor what the culture is today. But I can tell you that I logged many miles there years ago and have many fond memories. I recently visited KU and really wished that I had brought my bike and had the time to explore some of my old routes.
