The best transactions I've ever had were local sellers who listed items on ebay with either too high an asking price, or too high shipping costs. I've been able to buy a couple of bikes direct from local ebay seller listings for cash bypassing ebay's fees and avoiding shipping costs. Generally for below the asking price, but above the price seller would have realized after paying the fees
