We have smooth roads around here. I ride 23mm on my singles, 140 lbs. on my carbon bike, 120 on my heavy alu bike, and 95 on my CAAD9. The carbon bike still has the best ride even with the high pressure, 200+ miles/day in total comfort. It's fine on chipseal as long as it's no more than 20 miles at a stretch. I would consider 25mm for the CAAD9, but not the other bikes.
