I've used an adapter to fit a threadless type stem on a threaded headset setup. Worked well. Didn't look bad. I liked it.

On another note, you don't have to keep every old frame. Except for one steel frame with lasting nostalgic value I like moving them in and out. Besides that one, none of the rest are sacred. My limit is three in the garage at a time. If I want something new, something old has to go. Just my idiosyncrasy, but that is how I play it.
