This may not be true for all sizes. All my shorts and bibs are size XL, and XL Performance Ultras fit me just fine.
Also I'll add one thing that surprised me the most about these bibs, the fact that they are Made in USA.
yeah, I don't agree with them running on the small side. These run true to size IMO.
