At this point the tire is looking to me like the weak link more than the lack of tube. I am a schwalbe marathon supreme fan, tires less substantial than that don't really last long enough for me around here. Tubeless for me is an attempt to see if I can tolerate something like a 'regular' road bike tire. Yesterday's roadside excitement still took less time than cracking the bead, pulling and patching the punctured section of tube, making sure the sharp object is gone and won't repuncture the tube, and pumping it back up.

Also, I did expect the sealant to solidify into a lump in the bottom of the tire where it spent the winter, so I was glad that didn't happen.

Was the leak from the same spot on the tire, or are you saying the wheel is leaking (not sealed well around bead? Valve?)
No it was one puncture. I could have bombed down the hill and it would have spun as fast as it did when I pulled over and spun it by hand, maybe faster, and resealed, but I might have reached the bottom w/ less air than I would have wanted. I guess I need more time to develop faith that it will reseal while the sealant sprays round and round as I ride...

I put an ounce of sealant in this morning before riding into work, on the offchance that I was being a cheapskate and that's why it took so long to seal. Now I have more of a lake sloshing around inside the tire, maybe overwhelming glop is the secret to filling holes in a timely manner.
