There are 90mm mini-V brakes, and 84mm ones. It's best to have the correct one for your brake lever's pull.

Longer brake arms need more cable pull, so the 90mm with the wrong levers might bottom out before the brakes are fully engaged.

I know that the 84 works with Campagnolo brake levers. I had to set the pads very close to the rim, closer than I do with regular road brakes.

I think the "newer" Shimano levers work best with 90mm, but I never really checked on it.
