Bikes: A really light one and a really heavy one.

I've been using powercordz with i-links and mini i-links for several years now. If you don't want to have to fine tune things I'd stay away from powercordz for shifting. I have no issues with braking. I used to have nokon but then went to the i-links and I can't justify the cost increase for those aican bunghole thingies. The i-links are much easier to work with and I believe powercordz now has their swift version and even jagwire came out with some version of them.
