Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's the difference between the two (Three? More?) flavors of BioPace that get me. My '87 Tempo has the BioPace 'Lite' chainrings (two of them) that are hardly noticeable. Except when I'm out of the saddle and mashing hard, where they give me an encouraging feeling of surging forward with every downstroke. That's the only time I even realize they're there. It's a very subtle un-roundness. Seated and spinning, I can't tell any difference from round.

OTOH, my C-dale ST600 came with a triple, the two big rings are round, the small inner ring was the super extreme lopsided version of BioPace, and I just couldn't get used to it. It really bugged me. Felt weird and wrong. Seat-of-the-pants kinda thing. I rode the bike for a couple weeks that way before I yanked the ovoid ring with extreme prejudice.

Sheldon and I just don't see eye to eye on this one, but I think he'd agree if it really feels wrong to me, I shouldn't ride it.
