I finally finished my second retro roadie build, my '87 Cannondale Black Lightning. I swapped the original steel fork for a carbon fork which did make rough patches in the road much more manageable. I swapped in a Vuelta Corsa Pro wheelset, Shimano 5800 drivetrain and 28mm Gatorskins for the terrible road conditions in some places 'round here. The saddle, stem, headset and seat post are the originals. A very fast, responsive ride. I haven't put on clipless pedals yet because this is now the wife's go to road bike and she hasn't made the switch to clipless yet. She took it out yesterday for a 15 mile shakedown ride and loved it.
