If you're going to upgrade... then upgrade. Don't do a small jump, you won't appreciate the difference. I'd suggest a carbon bike with either Shimano 105 or Sram Rival and a compact crank with a 11-28. Not sure what your budget is, but expect to spend $2500-$3000 for notice a real upgrade.
