That's why I was wondering if it makes a difference. I do understand that getting physically fit and increasing strength trumps all. But I guess I plateaued when it comes to my body. I am just not genetically made for so much power.

The other reason is that my bike is 7 years old so I guess that itch to buy something new also is a factor Don't judge me. I usually don't spend money on random stuff. But this is something that I use on a very regular basis...

Thanks.
A lighter bike should climb a little faster. How much that affects your subjective perception of how hard you are working is another matter.

The specialized roubaix models in the $2K to $2.5K range weigh around 18 - 19 lbs from the reviews I've seen. I'm guessing your secteur weighs around 21-22 lbs. bare.

Why not go for a test ride and compare your bike with a new model back to back?
