Leave a few loonies to buy a "beater bike" for winter riding. The bike you are considering costs $1075 in US$. If you want it to last a long time, put it away for the Canadian winter and ride a piece of junk to school. When I was a student at the U of WI I had a Motobecane Le Champion road bike as my "good weather" bike but kept an old 10 speed as my winter bike. I still had the Le Champion up to a few years ago because I never rode it on salty winter roads. There is also the question of bike theft on campus. How will you secure your $1K+ bike to make sure it is still there when classes are over?
