Yeah, different lengths and slightly different blade set up for different jobs. Some take off thick, heavy shavings to remove material quickly. Longer ones like this are for making stock flat and straight. Some of the shorter ones are for final smoothing in lieu of sanding (planed finishes look so much better than sanded). Would still like one with a low-angle, bevel up blade for end grain and smoothing surfaces with switching grain directions. Big, heavy metal tools are fun.
