Filing a Derailleur Slot

Okay I'm sorry but I promise this is my last derailleur adapter question.

Here are some pictures of my adapter. I lengthened the slot about a file width or 1/8 of an inch or so. Is there enough material left at the bottom to be reliable?

Right now it's pretty close to getting my derailleur in the right area, I'm about two pennies over the chainring rather than the usual single penny.

This is workable, but I could get it closer if I filed a millimeter or two off between the sharpie marks. Would this weaken the clamp enough to make a difference?

Thanks.
