I have an 86 400 Elance- I replaced the wheels a while ago- recently I put a triple on it and did a different set of wheels.

I actually went TO 27" with this bike- specifically to use short reach brakes. The wheels on there now are the wheels from my 1985 Trek 720, but I replaced the Helicomatic with the Maillard 600 sealed hub- it sort of matches the Maillard 700 Professional hub in the front.

For whatever it's worth- the bike feels so much nicer with these wheels on it than it ever did with the wheels it came with.
