Petroleum grease and plastic parts

Hey, just a quick question. I have read that petroleum products are detrimental to plastic products but I was curious to know just how much damage could occur based on the application. So for instance, I recently disassembled Raleigh Weinmann 610 center pull brakes. There are plastic bushings on the pivots and a small plastic cap that moves in a grooved section where the two arms meet. Would petroleum grease cause damage to these parts, or is the petroleum plastic combo more of an issue with parts that are under more constant stress?

I apologize if there is another post of or section that covers this. I am new here
