Understand the brakes issue. Sometimes a 27" wheel with 1 1/4" tires makes a smooth ride, at least in my 60cm sized frames. However, I have resisted re-introducing 27" and went to larger tires 27 - 28mm on 700c. 33knobbies are a bit much. 700c with 30s would feel much the same as 27"X 1 1/4 ('scuse, old school definition for 27" = not same as 700c).

Maybe the real reason for my 700c decision was that I purged 27" wheels in a previous expungement of bici-mania; with the purpose of simplification. Now I need help with tubular, clincher,.... maybe tubeless??? Oh yeah and how many $$$, which brand tire, supple vs endurance.
