If I thought that he was throwing away just fortune and fame, then I'd be right there with you in the "no sympathy" crowd. As it is, though, I think that his behavior is pointing towards a more extreme self-destruction. Matbe it's because I don't have kids (late-30s), maybe it's because I went to an SEC school and saw many people throw away football, basketball, baseball, etc. talent, but I think Ole Johnny is his own worst enemy.
He's had plenty of people try to help him. I sure can't name all of them, but, they include the Browns football organization, agents,
PR people and I'm guessing his parents. I'm betting that part of the problem is that he has some hangers on who are enjoying the Johnny Football money train. When the money is gone, they will be as well.
