I did submit a ticket with Wahoo support last night, and they responded early this morning (amazing response time!). Below is the main substance of their response:
The issue is there are a lot of phones being effected by this Bluetooth 6.0 problem on Android. The LG G3 is one of the main ones on the list along with many Nexus model phones, and Motorola as well. My LG G4 on 6.0 luckily has had zero issues on 6.0 so far with Bluetooth connections and I use the KICKR and TICKRX with Wahoo Fitness a few times a week. From what we have seen Android developers are working on a fix for the problem on 6.0 but the issue is not on Wahoo's end. We have seen a lot of phones going to a 6.0.1 update and it is suppose to resolve the issues. Whether that is a update available for your phone will be the question.
I did some more google searches and ran across another vendor's discussion of the Android 6.0 Bluetooth issues (https://www.thetileapp.com/android-6...w-connectivity). The vendor (Tile Inc.) said they worked with Google on a fix and that a patch was implemented in the release of Android 6.0.1.

The Tile statement agrees with what Wahoo says.
