1982 Schwinn Voyageur SP. '82 is unfortunately the year before they started coming with cantis. Frame has a dent in the top tube, shown in the pictures. Bike seems to track straight still, and the string alignment test looks ok (shown in a picture). 4130 frame, double butted top and down tubes.
I bought this for myself, to build as a more upright, relaxed alternative to my Miyata 914 after I hurt my back last year. A week later, I found a great deal on a late 80s Schwinn Passage, which I liked better than this. So I started to build this one up for a friend to use as a campus bike.... except then he found something he liked better, too. This poor thing keeps getting passed over.
Currently it's set up with Suntour XC Expert RD, XC Sport FD, older suntour power ratcheting downtube shifters, a Tourney Triple crank, and a 5 speed freewheel. 27" generic aluminum wheels with crappy walmart tires that I'd probably suggest replacing. Crappy brake levers currently (since I was building it for a non-bike-person friend) but if you'd prefer I can give you some old hooded dia compes instead. Has new cables and brake pads.
I've got around $150 in it, so I'd like to get that back out of it. I think that's a solid deal for an old Schwinn touring bike, even with the dent in the frame. For pick up in NE Ohio- I live in Youngstown but work between Akron and Cleveland.
