These days my FTP is a shadow of what it used to be, so now I'll go 300-325 for that pull. When I was in race shape my FTP was 309 so quite a bit more then. Saving for the finish is a double edged sword. If you get caught all that is a waste. So commit to the break and worry about the sprint with 5 to go. Position, conserve, pay acute attention to your break mates. You'd be surprised how much power you'll have left after an effort like that after a couple of laps of focused rest.
