Velobase is correct about the Dura-Ace SPD pedals. They are not listed in my 1992 catalogue and make their first appearance in the 1993 catalogue, being featured in a sidebar (see scan). That makes sense. I must have seen them at Interbike in the fall of 1992, where they would have debuted the 1993 products.
It took a bit of digging, but I found the road SPD pedals that preceded it, the PD-A525. My memory is apparently at least sort of right. They came out a year ahead. You are correct of course that these weren't the Dura Ace SPD's, but a cheaper pedal intended to test the waters.
