With aircraft, automobiles and ships at sea the overtaken craft/vehicle/vessel has an obligation to maintain course and speed while the overtaking vehicle is obligated to maneuver to ensure safe passage.
Same etiquette on a bike. Try and ride in a straight line, keep your vision as far ahead as possible and you won't need to swerve for obstacles. Even though you're a strong rider always assume there is someone faster who may pass and ride accordingly.
