Bikes: 2008 Novara Randonee - love it. Previous bikes:Motobecane Mirage, 1972 Moto Grand Jubilee (my fave), Jackson Rake 16, 1983 C'dale ST500.

There is sometimes a "washer" under the d-ring that is supposed to stay stationary via a tab or other mechanism. If the tab has broken off or for some other reason the part is allowed to rotate the d-ring will eventually loosen from vibration.
